Lay-Flat Tape Method Tutorial

Due to substantial interest in my Lay-Flat Tape Method book binding technique, I have posted a short tutorial video. I have made it available free to whomever wishes to try it because I remember what it was like after art school endeavouring to forge my own path.

I hope that those who can, however, will seriously consider dropping a few quid into the TIP JAR. It took years of hard work, deep investigation and copious experimentation to develop this binding method. It appears to be very simple, as all the best ideas do. But it takes a long time to get to that simplicity.

My method seeks to achieve a solid lay-flat bind without using glue. Instead it uses pH neutral acid free tape for archival longevity.

Have a go. Comments are more than welcome. Thank you.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for sharing this. Can I ask please, what dimensions are the double page spreads that you use?
